If you’re a casual bicycle rider or someone who has thought about getting into bicycling more, For Those Who Ride is a great podcast to add to your listening queue. In this first installment of our podcaster spotlight series, we break down the show, how it’s created, and what to expect from this podcast the future.
For Those Who Ride: A Podcast for The Everyday Cycler
For Those Who Ride was created and is hosted by William Gousios, who worked in bike shops for eight years prior to starting the podcast. He says he’s always felt that cycling shops tend to overlook the average rider and fail to make an environment where those people feel welcome, catering more to the hardcore cycling fanatics instead.
“Through my time in the bike industry, I often noticed that many riders felt excluded or unwelcomed by elitist shop environments,” William said. “I started this podcast to provide a resource for riders who have often been overlooked. I try to be intentional and put a lot of care into each episode. It’s a labor of love where I spend a lot of time editing, polishing, and creating sound design for the intros.”
“Many bicycle-focused shows are about the ‘sport’ of riding,” he said, “and are aimed at cyclist- or mountain-bike-focused topics, and often avoid topics that are relevant to the casual rider who is curious about incorporating the bicycle into their life more.”
For Those Who Ride shares resources and discusses topics that make the act of riding a bike more enjoyable and welcoming for the average person. Past episodes of the show have covered topics such as commuting via bike, the effects of biking on mental health, e-bikes, and more.
